Ingredients:

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Gravy:

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup pan drippings (from frying chicken)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the coated chicken breasts until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. For the gravy, in the same skillet with pan drippings, whisk together flour until smooth.
  8. Cook the flour mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown.
  9. Gradually whisk in the pan drippings, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens.
  10. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Serve the fried chicken with the homemade gravy.
