Tater Tot Breakfast Bowl with Sausage Gravy Recipe


 


Ingredients:

- 4 cups frozen tater tots

- 1 pound breakfast sausage

- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- 2 cups milk

- Salt and black pepper to taste

- Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, fried eggs


Directions:

1. Cook the Tater Tots:

   - Follow the package directions to bake the tater tots until they are crispy and golden brown.


2. Prepare the Sausage Gravy:

   - In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium-high heat until it is browned and crumbly. Drain any excess grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the skillet.

   - Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Cook for about 2 minutes.

   - Gradually whisk in the milk and bring the mixture to a simmer. Continue cooking until the gravy thickens, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.


3. Assemble the Breakfast Bowl:

   - Place a portion of the crispy tater tots in each bowl.

   - Pour the warm sausage gravy over the tater tots.

   - Add any optional toppings such as shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, or a fried egg on top.
